Ariana Grande-Butera (/,a:ri'a:n@ 'gra'ndeI/ AR-eeAH-n@ GRAHN-day, [note 1] born June 26 the 26th of June, 1993) is an American artist, singer, and actress. Her distinctive use of the whistle register and four-octave vocal range are well-respected by media and critics. Grande has been awarded numerous awards over the course of her career. This includes two Grammy Awards. One Brit Award. Two Billboard Music Awards. Three American Music Awards. Nine MTV Video Music Awards. Thirty Guinness World Records.


Grande began her music career at the age of 15 and was featured in the 2008 Broadway musical 13. She rose to fame for the role of Cat Valentine in the Nickelodeon television series Victorious (2010-2013) and Sam & Cat (2013-2014). After viewing YouTube videos of Grande singing covers, Republic Records signed Grande in 2011. The 1950s-influenced doo-wop pop and R&B debut album, [2] Yours Truly (2013), topped the US Billboard 200, while the album's first single, "The Way", made it into the top ten spots of the US Billboard Hot 100. The vocals of Grande and her whistle-like sound on the album were immediately in comparison to Mariah Carey.


She continued to experiment with pop and R&B in her second and third studio albums, My Everything (2014) and Dangerous Woman (2016). My Everything experimented with EDM and gained global acclaim with its singles "Problem", "Break Free" and "Bang Bang" as well as Dangerous Woman became her first album to have four consecutive albums at number one in the UK. Sweetener (2018) as well as Thank U, Next (2019) are her fourth and fifth studio albums, respectively, which featured trap music. Both of these albums were critically and commercially acclaimed. Sweetener won the Grammy Award as Best Pop Vocal Album. Thank U Next was nominated for Album of The Year and broke the record in streaming for the largest pop album. Grande was the first solo artist to make it to the top three spots of the Hot 100 and become the first female artist to earn the number one position on the UK Singles Chart with the singles "Thank U. Next", "7 Rings" and "Break up with Your Girlfriend. The 2020 collaborations "Stuck with U" with Justin Bieber and "Rain on Me" together with Lady Gaga helped her break the record for the most number-one songs to debut on the Hot 100, the latter being awarded the Grammy Award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. Grande extended her trap sound with her sixth studio album Positions (2020) with the result that the title track as well as the album's debut hit top spot in the UK. Grande collaborated with The Weeknd to make the remix to "Save Your Tears" in 2021. It was her sixth no.1 US single.
